The Role: As a Business Development Manager your key responsibility will be identifying, qualifying, and connecting with prospects that will ultimately benefit from the Catalyst Solutions Portfolio. After signing clients with Catalyst, the Business Development Manager will continue serving as the point of contact to manage the relationships.


A typical day will include a combination of the following duties:


  • Identifying business opportunities and key decision makers within the target market.
  • Generating interest by prospecting via phone, email, social media, drop-ins, and other creative business development strategies.
  • Setting meetings with prospects and strategic referral partners to drive business and brand awareness.
  • Conducting insightful sales conversations, actively listening, and identifying opportunities to provide value within the Catalyst Solutions Portfolio.
  • Developing proposals and converting leads into long-term clients by clearly articulating value.
  • Maintaining long-term consultative relationships with clients, staying proactive and attentive to their everchanging business needs.
  • Collaborating with internal team members and trusted referral partners to ensure smooth client onboarding and hand-off introductions where appropriate.
  • Attending networking and industry events to develop brand awareness for Catalyst in various markets.
  • Serving as a steward of Catalyst culture in every interaction.
  • Utilizing internal databases to track activity, document sales interactions, and organize follow up cadence.
  • Staying up to date with industry trends.
  • Other duties as assigned or identified.



Position Details:

  • Compensation: Commission + bonuses and residuals
  • Perks: Online training platforms; opportunity for advancement and portfolio ownership
  • Hours: Part-time; 20 + hours per week with potential to increase with business needs
  • Schedule: Flexible – to be determined upon hire
  • Location: Remote – Must live in the Greater PDX Area for occasional in-person meetings


The Professional: A qualified candidate for this position will have a passion for supporting entrepreneurs, and their self-drive will be apparent. They will carry themselves with integrity and focus on relationships first. They don’t focus on problems; they see opportunities and use critical thinking skills and tenacity to be effective.


Additionally, they will have:

  • 2+ years of experience in a professional operations or sales role such as operations manager, general manager, real estate agent, sales representative, account manager, business development representative, or similar.
  • Ability to quickly catch on to various industry specific terms within Hospitality, Food and Beverage, Real Estate, Mortgage, Software, Payment Processing, and more.
  • Ability to connect and build trust within all levels of an organization, including Business Owners, C-Suite members, and Leadership teams.
  • Sales tact – tastefully and respectfully navigating objections when they occur.
  • Business savvy – ability to identify opportunity and drive business using various sales strategies, pivoting where necessary to be effective.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Timely follow up and follow through skills.
  • Proficiency in various technology platforms such as Hubspot, Keap, Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Outlook Calendar Tool, etc. and the ability to easily learn and adapt to new systems and technology.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.



Physical Requirements:


  1. Sitting/Desk Work: Extended periods of sitting and desk work are a regular part of this role, requiring the ability to focus on tasks using a computer and other office equipment.


  1. Local Travel: Stamina to travel locally for client visits, meetings, and events which may include driving, walking, standing, and socializing for extended periods of time in varying environments.


  1. Manual Dexterity: Proficient use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers, necessitating good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.


  1. Lifting: Occasional lifting of office supplies or materials up to 20 pounds may be required.


  1. Visual Acuity: Clear vision is necessary for reading documents, using a computer, and navigating the workspace effectively.


  1. Hearing: Adequate hearing is required for effective communication in person, over the phone, and during meetings.


  1. Repetitive Tasks: Performing repetitive tasks, such as typing and data entry, is a routine part of the job.


  1. Stress Tolerance: The ability to manage stress and remain focused in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
