The Role: As a Business Advisor at Catalyst, your key responsibility will be serving as a trusted partner for our business clients with annual revenues of up to $100M. You will provide guidance to owners and leaders to create efficiencies by applying your knowledge and expertise in areas of general operations, customer success, technical systems, financial management, human resources, and more. Client support ranges from project work, to managing ongoing strategies.


A typical day will include a combination of the following duties:


  • Onboarding new clients by gathering pertinent information to assess and understand their business goals, current state, desired future state, and culture objectives.
  • Identifying client strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, and restraints.
  • Developing and implementing tailored solutions to achieve client objectives.
  • Meeting with c-level executives and other key leaders within the client organizations to discuss support options, review business strategies, scope out projects, provide regular check-ins, or discuss project updates.
  • Perform operational project-based work such as: creating business plans, creating business development plans, developing standard operating procedures, increasing opportunities for employee productivity, implementing new technical platforms, building and implementing team trainings, creating programs to enhance team culture and drive employee satisfaction, and more.
  • Performing financial project-based work such as: financial analysis, creating projections, reviewing vendors and contracts, and examining opportunities for cost cutting without sacrificing quality or efficiency.
  • Providing general business advisory and various support.
  • Troubleshooting systems and POS equipment.
  • Building a referral network to refer mutually beneficial solutions to clients.
  • Completing all Catalyst Training + Development curriculum.
  • Partnering with our internal business development representative to ensure smooth client hand-offs.
  • Serving as an ambassador for Catalyst Training + Development in the community and beyond.
  • Other duties as assigned or identified.


Position Details:

  • Compensation: $30/hour + commission (OTE commission is an average of $100 per client per mo. depending on the client load the advisor takes on)
  • Hours: Part-time or Full-Time opportunity; starting at 10 hours per week with potential to increase as client work is desired and/or available
  • Schedule: Flexible – to be determined based on employee and client availability
  • Location: Remote – Must live in the Greater PDX Area for occasional in-person meetings

The Professional: A qualified candidate for this position will have a passion for supporting entrepreneurs and have an entrepreneurial spirit themselves. They will carry themselves with integrity and focus on relationships first. They don’t focus on problems; they see opportunities and use critical thinking skills and tenacity to be effective.


Additionally, they will have:


  • 5+ years of experience in a role(s) with leadership responsibility, such as operations manager, general manager, sales manager, executive, or other similar role.
  • Expertise supporting business operations for companies under $5M in revenue.
  • Ability to advise on topics such as general operations, customer success, technical systems, financial management, human resources, and more.
  • Previous successful experience managing and motivating teams, with the ability to coach and advise others to do the same.
  • Ability to quickly catch on to various industry specific terms within Hospitality, Food and Beverage, Real Estate, Mortgage, Software, Payment Processing, and more.
  • Ability to connect and build trust within all levels of an organization, including diverse groups of business owners, c-suite members, and leadership teams.
  • Adaptable communication – tastefully and respectfully collaborating with various business leaders, communicating through effective outcomes.
  • Business savvy – ability to identify opportunity and drive business using various operations strategies, pivoting where necessary to be effective.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Timely follow up and follow through skills.

  • Proficiency in various technology platforms such as Hubspot, Keap, Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Outlook Calendar Tool, etc. and the ability to easily learn and adapt to new systems and technology.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.



Physical Requirements:


  1. Sitting/Desk Work: Extended periods of sitting and desk work are a regular part of this role, requiring the ability to focus on tasks using a computer and other office equipment.


  1. Local Travel: Stamina to travel locally for client visits, meetings, and events which may include driving, walking, standing, and socializing for extended periods of time in varying environments.


  1. Manual Dexterity: Proficient use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers, necessitating good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.


  1. Lifting: Occasional lifting of office supplies or materials up to 20 pounds may be required.


  1. Visual Acuity: Clear vision is necessary for reading documents, using a computer, and navigating the workspace effectively.


  1. Hearing: Adequate hearing is required for effective communication in person, over the phone, and during meetings.


  1. Repetitive Tasks: Performing repetitive tasks, such as typing and data entry, is a routine part of the job.


  1. Stress Tolerance: The ability to manage stress and remain focused in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
